We're excited to announce the release of a new Surf server. We hope everyone gives it a chance.
New Maps & Map Testing: Friday nights and weekends.
1. What is Surf?
Surfing in Counter Strike revolves around gliding (surfing) on one sided or double sided ramps. Certain techniques such as pushing against the ramp, or surfing low and leaping at the peak of the ramp allow the player to gain speed. The objective varies depending on the map, but the main goal is to perfect your technique in order to maintain speed and glide from one ramp to another.
Surf maps can be categorized into three groups. Combat, level and course maps.
Combat: The main objective in combat maps is to eliminate the opposing team as you surf through the map. If you fall off the ramps you're teleported to a cage.
Level & Course: Unlike combat maps, level and course maps are more like a race track. The objective is to complete the map as fast as you possibly could. In level maps, you surf through levels of varying difficulty one after another. If you complete one level and fail the next, you start off at the beginning of the second level. Course map are not as forgiving, but they tend to take less time to complete. They're smaller than level based maps but if you fall off you must start over from the beginning.
2. What type of maps will GirlGam3rs Surf have?
Level based, course and combat maps. Level and course maps will have a timer at the spawn of each map. You can track your speedruns and view other stats through the surf main menu ("M" or your choose team key).
Combat maps have automatic respawn and you can get yourself out of the cage by shooting the cage buttons.
3. Will other speedrun based maps such as KZ and BHop maps be added?
That's a possibility. At the moment we're working on testing surf maps and we'll look into other maps based on feedback.
4. Who is the server manager?
@javale mcgee will be managing the server. He's passionate about surf and is eager to get it going. If you have any questions about surf feel free to contact him through the forum @javale mcgee or through steam:
